Valerie Heisler, aged 78, peacefully passed on September 14, 2025 at Brookdale Filmore Pond in Bennington, Vermont.
Born on September 20, 1946, in Brooklyn, Valerie was the daughter of the late Ross and Muriel (Scarbeck) Brooks. She was raised on Long Island, received her high school education from Long Island Lutheran High School and graduated from Hofstra University in 1967 with a degree in English Literature.
In 1983, Valerie married the love of her life, David Heisler. Although she loved music, skiing and traveling, nothing gave her more pleasure than raising their children, creating beautiful family memories in their lovely homes, spending time with their grandchildren and enjoying the beauty of Vermont with David by her side. Her love for life and positive spirit were boundless; even through her battle with cancer, she met everyone with a sparkle in her eyes and a smile that would light up a room.
Valerie is survived by her husband David; her four children, Kristin Roessner, Erica Conrad, Bret (Cheryl) Heisler and Eric (Wrenn) Heisler; her four grandchildren, Elizabeth Doerr, Alex (Brooke) Doerr, Hannah Heisler and Max Heisler; her brother and sister-in law, Ross and Wendy Brooks; her best friend from childhood, Valerie Cairns; and many other family members and friends who will miss her.
A gravesite funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 16th at the Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, Vermont followed by a home reception on Monument Avenue in Bennington. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center. Gifts can be made online at www.svmc.org/givenow or by mailing a check to the SVMC Foundation at 100 Hospital Drive, Bennington, VT 05201.
