Theresa M. Brunina (Rappazzo)

Theresa M. "Terry" Brunina, 93, a resident of Jefferson Heights in Bennington, VT passed away on Monday January 10, 2022 at the Troy Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Troy, NY following a brief illness.
Born in Albany, NY October 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Carmelo and Santa (Rappazzo) Rappazzo. Terry received her education in Albany and was a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School.
Terry moved to Bennington upon her marriage to Douglas P. Brunina on September 9, 1950, and 2 years later they built their home on Jefferson Heights where she lived until her death.
After graduating high school she worked 4 years in the New York State Budget Office in Albany. Later, after moving to Vermont, she was employed for 34 years by the Bennington School system, retiring in 1992.
She and Doug loved to camp and would travel throughout the country visiting several parks as well as visiting family and friends. For twenty years they were "Snowbirds" and visited Florida each winter enjoying the winter sunshine. They also were charter members of the NoBeSoVe (Northern Berkshire Southern Vermont) chapter of a national camping organization and enjoyed many years organizing and attending group campouts (and the spin-off group loosely called the "Tuesday night sewing circle").
Terry was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook, and enjoyed making jellies, jams, pies, and pickles, all picked fresh from the berry patch and garden in her backyard.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret "Peg" and Tony Murtaugh of Nassau, NY, a son Kenneth of Taylors, S.C.; a son Richard of Clifton, VA; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Melanie Brunina of Bennington and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by Douglas, her husband of 64 years (2014), a brother, S. Dominick Rappazzo, a sister Mary Ringer and daughter-in-law Mona Brunina
A celebration of Terry's life to include a memorial Mass and burial will be held later this year and will be announced by the family.
