Arlington- Theodore W. Becker, 85, a resident of Warm Brook Road in Arlington, Vermont, passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2022 following a brief illness.
Born on October 17th, 1936 in Bennington, Vermont, he was the son of the late Ward S. Becker And Nelli Frances Stratton Becker Gates. Ted received his early education in Bennington, Sandgate, VT, as well as, Hoosick Falls and Cambridge, New York. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Air Force and graduated from the United States Air Force Institute in San Francisco, California. Ted served in the Air Force from March of 1954 till November of 1957, he was an Airman First Class.
Ted married the former Noreen Lewis on February 4th, 1989 at the east Arlington Fire House. they were married by Reverend Joan O'Gorman.
He had been employed by the town of Searsburg,VT as Road Commissioner and had also served as Constable and Tax Collector for Sandgate. He also was a truck driver and mason. Ted later worked for the Sunderland Highway department, and Woodard Construction in Arlington, from which he retired.
Ted was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1332 of Bennington, Disabled American Veterans, and the Bennington Moose Lodge. Ted enjoyed hunting and Fishing in his free time.
Survivors include his wife; Noreen Becker of Arlington. His children, Karla Becker of Windham, Maine, Ray Becker of Orlando, Florida, Christopher Becker of Springfield, VT, Jody Becker of Brattleboro, VT, Darren Becker of Hoosick Falls and a step daughter; Jessica Martin of North Bennington. Four half sisters; Linda Becker, Bette Chamberlain, Mona Gauthier of Bennington and Susan LaFountain of Woodford, VT. Two half brothers; Winfield Gates Jr. of Somerset, VT and Larry Gates of Bennington. Ted is also survived by five grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ted is predeceased by a son Theodore Becker Jr., A step daughter; Samuel Becker, and his step father; Winfield Gates Sr.
Visitation will be held at the Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington on Friday July 22nd, 2022 from 10am till 11am.
Immediately following the calling hours there will be a memorial service at 11am at the funeral home.
The Burial will take place immediately following in the family lot at the White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
