Terry Carey, 80, a resident of Hidden Valley Road in Pownal, passed away at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT on Monday May 5, 2025. Terry was born in Hoosick Falls, NY on November 5, 1944, the son of the late Fred and Mary (Arnold) Carey. He received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. He married the former Linda Krawczyk on March 5, 1966, at St. Francis de Sales church in Bennington.
From 1962-1966 Terry served in the United States Marine Corps. Terry was employed at several area mills including Mack Molding and Eveready. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Champlain. He also enjoyed camping and was a NASCAR fan. Terry was a member of the American Legion Post 13 in Bennington.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Carey, of Pownal, VT, his sons; Shawn (Robin) Carey and Jamie (Amy) Carey, all of Pownal, three grandchildren; Michael (Christy) Carey, Shelby (Brandon) Abels and Blake Carey, and two great grandchildren, Paxton and Josie Abels. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Annette Morse, Ted Carey, Fred Carey, Tim Carey, Darlene Carey, Pam Carey, DD Carey, Walter Carey, Bonnie Pinsonneault and Tammy Pinsonneault along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call at the EP Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Wednesday May 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A Graveside service with military honors will follow the visitation at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
