Shirley E. Lohan, 85, a former resident of Bennington, Vermont and more recently of Arden, North Carolina died Thursday May 6, 2021 in Arden following a chronic illness.
She was born in Salem, NY July 15, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dolly (Stone) Tifft. Shirley received her education in Bennington. Shirley was married to Bernard Michael Lohan. Mr. Lohan died March 2, 2019. For many years Shirley and Bernard lived in Las Vegas prior to moving to Arden in January of 2018.
In earlier years, Shirley had been employed at Bennington Brush and for many years at the Eveready Battery Company in Bennington, from which she retired. She later worked at the Moose Club in Bennington.
Shirley's family was her main interest. She also enjoyed going to casinos and her pets. Shirley was a member of the Moose and Eagles Club.
Survivors include her children, Fred (Sandy) Wilkins, Kathy (Butch) Williams, Debby Wilkins, Sheree Wilkins, Michael Wilkins and Mark (Lori) Wilkins. A daughter in law, Bonnie Wilkins, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren and a sister Dorothy Vollor. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Linda Mayer, a son Randy Wilkins and her brothers and sisters, Theodore, Edward, Norman, Thomas, Wallace and Irving Tifft, William Baker, Lillian Bourn, Alice Colburn, Lorraine Reed and Alberta Dorman
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Tuesday May 11, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. The service will be offered at 6:30 pm.
The committal service will take place in the family lot at White Chapel on Wednesday May 12 at 2:00 p.m.
