Rose-Marie Jeannine Santarcangelo

October 17, 1947 — January 30, 2022

Rose-Marie Jeannine Santarcangelo, 74, born October 17, 1947 in Van Buren, Maine to Lottie Paradis Parent and Joachim Parent of Hamlin, Maine died on January 30, 2022 with her daughter by her side at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont.

Rose-Marie is the last of 12 siblings. She is survived by her children; Christopher and Jennifer, their partners and five grandchildren; Skyler, Samantha, Zachary, Nathaniel and Andrew. She loved them and always enjoyed her time with them. She especially looked forward to meals with them where she never forgot the potatoes whether mashed or in chicken stew. Rose is also survived by several generations of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, too many to be named but certainly loved.

One of Rose's favorite places to visit was her "home" in Hamlin, Maine with every visit came a request to sleep in her childhood bedroom. She loved to visit the potato fields at Parent Farms which were ever growing, as she watched four generations build upon and expand the family business. She often said as she toured the farm, "My father would be so proud." A trip to Maine was never complete without a visit to York Beach to take in her favorite scenic view of the Nubble Point Lighthouse and to stop for Goldenrod Kisses on her way out of town.

Rose-Marie has been a resident of Bennington, Vermont since 1969. As a professional, Rose had many roles over the years such as school secretary, car finance and insurance agent and business manager. Her most loved career change was as a business and office manager to long time friend and Optometrist, Alexander Tenentes. In retirement she continued her love of bookkeeping for Sacred Heart School where she loved the children and couldn't wait to hear their stories and see their smiles.

Rose was a long-term member of Sacred Heart Church. As a member of this church Rose was an Usher, Extraordinary Minister and was essential in establishing the Funeral Ministry. She was proud, honored and took great care in the cross presentation at funerals. Over the years, Rose's church family became very important to her. She valued their endless prayers and support especially through her battle with lung cancer.

She will be interred at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Hamlin, Maine following an Anatomical Gift to the University of Vermont. A funeral mass for Rose will be held on Saturday April 9th at 10 am at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales church in Bennington.

Memorial contributions in honor of Rose can be made to Sacred Heart School, through the office of the E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main Street, Bennington VT. 05201.
