Madelyn A. “Johnnie” Costantino, 89 of Hoosick Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly at the Albany Medical Center on October 29, 2025. Johnnie was born in Searsburg, VT on August 14, 1936, the daughter of Harold V. and Esther E. (Bump) Grover. She was married to Francis William Costantino. Mr. Costantino passed away May 14, 2024.
Johnnie was a rebel in her earlier years, riding motorcycles back in the 50’s, a rarity for women at that time. For many, many years she worked in the cafeteria at the Hoosick Falls central School. Johnnie was a softball coach for the Town of Hoosick. She was a huge New York Yankee, Dallas Cowboy and Dale Earnhardt fan, rarely missing a game or a race. Johnnie was an avid bowler for 60 years and also enjoyed clogging. She loved horse racing and placing her bets as well as playing the slot machines, making many trips to Saratoga.
Her children and grandchildren were her life. She was very active in all their lives, attending every game they were in or other activity they were part of. Johnnie loved vacationing at the Outer Banks in North Carolina and enjoyed walking the beach there and in Florida. This is just a snippet of Johnnies life; to list all the ways she impacted the lives of those around her would be impossible to accomplish in this obituary.
Johnnie is survived by her children; Robin (Matt Bleau) Costantino of Bennington, VT, Francine (Wade) White of Hyde Park, NY, Vincent (Sally) Costantino of Hoosick Falls, NY, Charles (Colleen) Costantino of Hoosick Falls, NY, and Brenda (Don) DeLuca of Guilderland, NY and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Francis, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Costantino.
