Linda Ruth Madden, (nee Head), age 77, a former childhood resident of Haworth, New Jersey, and adult resident of Shaftsbury and Arlington, Vermont, and St. Augustine, Florida. Linda died on October 13, 2025 at Sunrise Senior Living, New City, New York.

Linda was born in Teaneck, Jersey, on July 18, 1948. She is the daughter of the late John and Dorothea Head formerly of Haworth, New Jersey and Shaftsbury, Vermont. Linda graduated from Wesleyan College of Macon, GA and completed her Remedial Reading Education Certification from Castleton State University, Vermont.

Mrs. Madden married the former Colonel Joseph Madden on May 16, 1994. Col. Madden died on April 29, 2001. Mrs. Madden was a Reading Teacher at Molly Stark Elementary School in Bennington, Vermont for many years.

Mrs. Madden was an avid Golden Retriever owner and breeder; AKC supporter, as well as promoter of Animal Rights, educator in the care of dogs, supporter of local shelters, and Golden Retriever Rescue organizations, as well as many other animal organizations.

Linda was also a member of the American Association of University Women of Bennington, VT, dedicated to the empowerment of women and girls, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Intl. for Women Educators.

Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Head Cymerman of Tomkins Cove, New York, and two nephews: John Theodore Cymerman and his wife, Yen Cymerman of Malden, MA, and Steven Cymerman of Tomkins Cove, NY.

Friends and family may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Tuesday, 10/21 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. A private graveside service for family will follow.
