Lila Rose Hier died Mon., Sept. 26, 2022 at home after battling heart failure, COPD, and CHF.
She was born at Putnam Memorial Hospital on Feb. 19, 1934, to Carl and Rose (Prue) Bartlett.
In 1959 she married Gordon Hier. Later that year they had a daughter, Lisa.
A life-long Bennington resident she attended local schools.
At 15 she began working at Putnam Memorial Hospital in housekeeping. Later working at the Putnam Hotel as a maid. She then worked at Crescent Manor as a nurses aide and later in their laundry.
She loved Jesus and God, OLD Country & Western music, dogs, going to cardiac rehab - TY Patty and Robin, spending time in People's Park playing cribbage and visiting with the friends she made there, and cleaning, but her family and friends came first.
Survivors include her daughter; grandson Kevin Guilbault (Isabel) and great-grandson Oliver of MI; her siblings Rosie Bartlett of Pownal; Carl (Dort) Bartlett of Bennington; niece Debbie (Norman) Tifft and 4 great-nephews of Pownal; and many cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband; parents; 4 siblings; grandson Joey Guilbault; all aunts and uncles; some cousins; most friends; her pets; 2 step-children Charlie Hier and Jennie Lasher.
Services will be at Mahar's in Bennington on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, from 11- 1 following to White Chapel cemetery where she will be interred.
