Judith Anne (Counter) Uryniak, 76, the only child of the late Raymond F. Counter and Jeanne (Paquette) Counter passed away on May 5, 2025.

Born June 16, 1948, in North Adams, MA, Judy attended local schools including the former Notre Dame Parochial School and St. Joseph High School. She then attended the former St. Joseph College in Bennington, VT where she earned her associate degree. She was employed by Atty Joseph G. Kronick from 1968-1969. She then went on to work in the Biology Department at Williams Colege until her retirement in 2010.

During her career at Williams, she could be found at the college gym during her lunch hour lifting weights or on the elliptical doing cardio. But it was her singing that gave her the greatest joy. Judy discovered early on that she had a voice and became a part of local church choirs where she could be heard cantering at Saturday masses usually with her favorite accompanist, Ann Cain. She also sang at many weddings and funerals. Judy was also part of the Northwern Berkshire Chorale for 10 years until her retirement.

Judy is survived by her husband, Michael Uryniak, whom she married on January 8, 1983. She also leaves several cousins, Gail Duffy, Barbara Mazzer, Robert Kittler from Pittsfield and Diane bunting from North Adams. She also leaves her sister-in-law Anne Sicley (Kurt Klein) of Florida, her brother-in-law, Thomas (Joan) Uryniak of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Judith will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main Street Bennington, VT 05201.
