Joyce Eileen Williams, 81, a lifelong resident of North Bennington, VT, passed away on June 4, 2025, at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT. Joyce was born in Bennington on July 17, 1943, the daughter of LeRoy and Mae (Lee) Loomis. She was a graduate of North Bennington High School. She married Harold Williams on September 2, 1961. Harold (Homer)Williams passed away on November 12, 1995.

Joyce could always be seen in North Bennington where she was a school crossing guard for 30 years. She enjoyed people stopping by her home to visit with her. She was an excellent cook. Joyce looked forward to the holidays and enjoyed choosing just the right gift. The focus of Joyce’s life and the source of her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and the time she was able to spend with them.

Joyce is survived by her three children: Lorine Elwell of North Bennington, VT, Judy Kraenzle of North Bennington, VT and Harold “Jay” (Laura Ashline) Williams, Jr., of Hobart, NY, her grandchildren: Allison (Matthew) Cricco, Elizabeth Elwell, Zachariah Kraenzle, Jocelyn Kraenzle, Tanner Williams (Michelle Hornbeck) and Carsen (Chase) Weichman, one great grandchild, Jett Weichman, a sister, Jacqueline (Philip) Harrington of Shaftsbury, VT and two brothers, Robert Loomis of Shaftsbury, VT and Dennis (Virginia) Loomis of Bennington, VT. In addition to her husband, Harold, Joyce was predeceased by a son-in-law, George Elwell, her brothers: LeRoy, Bernard, Clifton, George and Ronald Loomis and sisters: Bertha Greene, Marjorie Herrick, Jeanne Bean, Shirley Christian and Donna Bailey.

Graveside services for Joyce will be held at a later date in Grandview Cemetery. If friends desire, contributions in Joyce’s memory may be made to the North Bennington Fire Department or the Village School of North Bennington through the office of the EP Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main Street Bennington, VT 05201.
