Dorothy Vollor, 99, a resident of 26 White Birches Mobile Home Park in Bennington.
She was born in West Rupert, VT May 22, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Dennis Abare and Dolly (Stone) Tifft. She received her education in Rutland and Brandon.
She married Walter Vollor Sr. on April 4, 1964. Mr. Vollor died April 4, 1988.
In earlier years Dorothy worked for Dr. Gold in Schenectady, NY. She later enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy liked to clean. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and Yahtzee. As well as spending time with her family and dancing
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Dorothy), Charles Salmon of Vero Beach, Florida, James Salmon Sr. (Etola) of Waterbury, VT., Joanne McDonald (Chuck) of Bennington, VT, and Kenneth Vollor (Jessica) of Bennington. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her stepchildren, Roberta Race of East Greenbush, NY, Louis Vollor of Gloucester, MA. Dorothy is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her children, Roberta Salmon, Clark W. Salmon, Jr, Mary Long, and Elizabeth Salmon. As well as two stepchildren, Janice Hurley and Walter Vollor, four brothers, Edward, Theodore, Norman and Irvin Tifft and four sisters, Alice Colburn, Lillian Bourn, Shirley Lohan, and Alberta Dorman. Dorothy is also predeceased by her stepdaughter Jeannie Vollor and her sons in law Richard Long Sr. and Chuck McDonald Sr.
Calling hours will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026. A service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m.
A burial will take place at a later date in the family lot at Holy Cross Cemetery in Saint Albans, VT.
