Doris A. Elwell, 86, a resident of Spicer Road, Potter Hill, NY died Thursday, June 24, 2021 at The Center in Hoosick Falls, N Y following a long illness.

Born in Hoosick, NY on March 27, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George and Lucy (LeBarron) Williams. Doris received her education in Troy, NY and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Doris married Ralph H. Elwell on March 27, 1953 in Boyntonville, NY. Ralph died January 29, 2016.

Prior to her retirement Doris had been employed for many years in the cafeteria program at Hoosick Falls Central School.

She was a very active member and a Life Member of VFW Post 1332 Auxiliary in Bennington.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Roy Beardsley of Potter Hill, NY; three sons, Steve Elwell of Herman, NY, Scott Elwell of Potter Hill and Jeff Elwell of Bennington. Doris is survived by over 80 grandchildren great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; by a brother, Larry (Rose Mary) Elwell of Clifton Park, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Doris was predeceased by three daughters, Dawn, Kim and Kathy and by a brother and two sisters, Peter Williams, Eleanor Hoag and Betty Williams.

A Celebration of Life for Doris Elwell will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the VFW Post 1332 in Bennington from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. The Vermont State VFW Auxiliary will be offering their service at 3:00 p.m.

Private committal services will be held at White Chapel Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
