Donald Alan Dorman, 79, longtime resident of Bennington, VT passed away on January 27, 2026.
Donald was born on June 7, 1946 to the late Philip and Doris (Dupee) Dorman in Bennington, VT. He was one of seven children. Donald received his education in Bennington, and later went on to work for the Bennington school district as a multi-faceted employee. He was a school bus driver, general maintenance worker, and also worked in the cafeteria.
Donald would marry the former Linda Corey on February 6, 1965. Together they would raise three children, and remained married until his passing.
Donald was a man of many interests – which coincided with his ability to work in different fields. He was a motorcycle fanatic, and loved to work on anything with a motor. One of his prized possessions was a Harley Davidson motorcycle from 1933. It wasn’t just restoring and collecting motorcycles that he enjoyed though – he loved to ride them. Donald was also an avid music collector, and was passionate about music in general. He would collect and tinker with old radios. In addition, he liked to photograph miniature houses and cars. Other than the motors, music, radios, and photography – Donald loved his pet dogs. Elliot and Katie are two honorable mentions for his companions over the years.
Donald was a member of the Bennington, VT Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Donald is survived by his wife, Linda Dorman. His children: Gary Dorman (Diane), Patricia Dorman, and Jessica Dorman (Kenny). Grandchildren: Christopher LaFountain, Cassidy LaFountain, Cameron LaFountain, Marcus Hall, Michael Hall, Jonathan Caron, Kassidy Caron, Fynn Caron, and Kaleb Caron. Ten great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his siblings: Phil Dorman, Cecil Dorman, Virginia Dorman, Violet Dufresne, Luella Crawford, and Doris Davis. He was also predeceased by a grandchild, Aaron LaFountain.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 393 Gore Road, Bennington, VT 05201 on February 7, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Following the service, friends and family are invited for a Potluck at the Moose Lodge 1233 located at 916 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
The burial will be private and scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family.
