Cynthia Jane Towslee, 85, longtime resident of Barber Pond Road, passed away on August 3, 2025.
Cynthia was born in North Adams, MA on March 29, 1940 to the late John and Ruth (Scott) Millis. Cynthia would receive her early education in North Adams, and would later attend courses for her secondary education.
Cynthia married the love of her life, James “Joe” Towslee on April 20, 1968 at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in North Adams, MA. Together they raised two children, Kristen (Towslee) Hayes and Jonathan Towslee. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before Joe’s passing in July 2021.
Cynthia worked as a police dispatcher for the Vermont State Police, and prided in her work and was held in high regard by all the VT State Troopers.
Cynthia served many years as a Board Member on the Southern Vermont Supervisory Union School Board and the Town Select Board.
Cynthia was a woman of faith, and a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in North Adams, MA. She loved her family, and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren, who will sorely miss her presence. Her favorite activities with family were traveling and gathering at the holidays.
Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Kristen and Michael Hayes of Charlotte, VT; a son, Jonathan Towslee of Boston, MA; three grandchildren, Katey Hayes of Brooklyn, NY, Lindsea Hayes of West Hartford, CT and Michael Hayes of Charlotte, VT; three sisters, Martha Leja, Melinda Horn and Susan Johnson of Adams, MA and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at the Park McCullough House located at 1 Park Street, North Bennington, VT on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM. Friends may call at the Park McCullough House from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington following the service.
