BENNINGTON-
Beverly Ann Willette, 85, a resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully on July 24th 2022 at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Bennington on July 27th, 1936 to the late Margaret Gilbar and Alfred Peters. Beverly attended Bennington Catholic High School until leaving after 10th grade to help raise her siblings, after her mother's diagnosis with cancer. She spent nearly her whole career as a nurses aid, working at many local facilities. Beverly was also employed at Polygraphic, Thompsons, and spent time working as a school bus aid for special needs children. She also worked part time as a bartender for many years.
On September 28th, 1957 she married Norman Willette Sr. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pownal, Vermont. Norman passed away in 1993, just days before their 36th wedding anniversary.
Beverly loved to spend her time crocheting, knitting and embroidering. She also was an avid reader. Beverly loved to spend time outside and enjoyed camping. The biggest joy in her life was her grandchildren. She loved them all dearly and continued to share her love as the family grew into great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by her children: Frederick Gilbar, David Willette, Deborah Willette, Norman Willettte Jr., Tina Willette, Sue Briggs, Jessica Vanlear, Thomas Willette, and Scott Willette. She is survived by her 27 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Beverly is also survived by two siblings, Margaret Mitchell and Robert Peters, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by two siblings, Alfred Peters Jr. and Edna Bevis, son-in-law William Briggs Sr., and son-in-law Robert Gratton Jr.. Beverly was also predeceased by a grandson, Robert Gratton III, and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Willette.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on July 28th, 2022 from 11:00am until 1:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will take place in the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery immediately following the service.
