Tony J. Sisti died peacefully on July 24 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont. He was 93 years old.
Tony was born April 4, 1932, in Trenton, New Jersey. Born during the Great Depression, he spent much of his youth in St. Michael’s orphanage in Hopewell, New Jersey, before venturing out on a life of adventure and wanderlust, where he brushed elbows with the likes of Albert Einstein and Elvis Presley.
He followed love to Texas, Florida, Maryland, Vermont, and just about everywhere in between. He spent the bulk of his working years in various retail management positions across the country before retiring in 1997.
Following retirement, Tony became a doting grandfather, rockhound, and Arizona enthusiast. He made regular visits to the Southwest as a snowbird and fell in love with Arizona’s culture, climate, and canyons.
Tony is survived by his daughters, Cleanna Sisti, Cheri Brigance and husband, Monte, Tami Vanderheiden and husband, Matt, his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Beth Sisti; his daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Eric Schatz; 8 grandchildren: Abigail, Lillian, and Rosabella Sisti, Rowan and Gabriel Schatz, Ben Brigance, Christina Couch, and Alexandria Vandherheiden, and several great grandchildren.
