Sarah Jane Geannelis, of Imperial Avenue, Bennington, Vermont, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2020, following a long illness.

Sarah was born on June 1, 1970, in Bennington, Vermont. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia and father, Peter John Geannelis. Sarah grew up in Bennington County where she attended school. Sarah had also lived in Pownal and East Rupert, Vermont.

After school, Sarah became a chef and worked locally. At one time, she worked at the family restaurant on Main Street in Bennington. Sarah was also known as a poultry and produce farmer. Sarah enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved the great outdoors. Her hobbies included, gardening, bird watching, horses, camping and fishing. She loved going to camp on Lake Champlain, Vermont. It was there she would take the most beautiful pictures of wildflowers and sunsets over the lake.

Sarah left behind many loved ones. Her longtime partner, William Baker of Bennington, who she often referred to as her “hero”. Sarah also left behind a son, Chaz Allen Pike. She called him her miracle child. She is also survived by three brothers: Ryan, J.P. and Jake Geannelis; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as well as Charlie Pike, Chaz’s father.

A special thanks to all those who helped Sarah throughout the years. She appreciated all her health care providers. Also a special thanks to Uncle Ed Pike for helping raise Chaz.

Due to the Covid virus, a graveside ceremony will be announced at a later time.

Miss Sarah. You will always have a place in my heart and never forgotten. You got me chicken farming up in Sandgate. Real good times and you were a great teacher. Eggs eggs eggs. And after we would go to the farm to feed the cows. Then head to my house for a hot cup of coffee. Knew you for years but those were the best time spent. I remember when I made meet balls and a fake nail fell in and your son found it. Not funny but it was... Rest in peace my friend. And to the family and friend my prayers go out to you all. I worked with Sarah at the Dorset Field Club. She was a wonderful woman , a very hard worker and a mother who dearly adored and loved her son. I have never seen a person so ravaged by a disease in such a short time. I loved Sarah's spirit and strength. She fought hard for a very long time. Rest in peace dear woman, I hope there are beautiful horses and an abundance of brightly feathered chickens waiting in heaven for your care. xoxo
