David Richard Peterson, 19, a resident of East Road in Shaftsbury died suddenly Thursday February 20, 2020 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Petersburgh, New York.

He was born in Albany, New York March 16, 2000. Son of Richard D. Peterson and Lisa (Pratt) Peterson. David received his elementary education in Shaftsbury, attended the Mount Anthony Middle School, and was a 2019 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.

David was a very motivated and committed individual, driven by his desire to do well in all that he pursued. He was always looking for a good outcome. He was dedicated to his family and made time for his many friends. He was known for being able to talk to anyone. David's strong values and loyalty stemmed from his relationship with the Lord and those that helped disciple him. His infectious smile was contagious.

His first job was assisting the Norshaft Little League Allstars as their official "Bat Boy," a job he took very seriously! He started playing soccer and basketball in the 7th grade and was a member of the Mount Anthony Varsity Soccer team. He enjoyed swimming, running and working on his car. David volunteered refereeing youth soccer and basketball games. David had been employed at Ramuntos. He was most recently employed by Breadloaf Construction and was working on the Putnam Block Project in Bennington. He aspired to be a master carpenter.

David's immediate family include his parents, Richard and Lisa Peterson of Shaftsbury, VT, Rachel Peterson of Chicago, Illinois, Eric (Lyndsey) Peterson of Bennington, and Jack Peterson of the US Air Force, stationed in Japan. David has a nephew, Blake, a niece, Madalynn, as well as many friends and family. He also leaves a special friend, Andrea.

This tree will grow and bloom every year. It can not replace all the growth David would have displayed. See it as His growth of Love for T(HIS) Life

Rick and Lisa and Peterson Family, Words are seldom sufficient to convey the sadness in ones heart for a loss of "David" a family member "Your Child". I am at that juncture. With all my being, I am attempting to feel your sadness during this time. Even with our Faith, it cannot be completely felt or understood. I always look to the scriptures for answers to this untimely and unfortunate situation and time of loss. Almost always I come to this.
Romans 8:26 (Amplified) So too, the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.
KNOW that my sadness is heartfelt and conveyed only in groanings and utterances. I pray for your solace and peace in your loss.
