FITCH, Connie Lynn (nee Stockwell) 1966-2020

On Sunday, May 10th, in the early hours of the morning, at age 53, Connie Fitch passed away in the presence of her loved ones as a result of her six-year long battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Connie was a life-time resident of Putney, Vermont, and is survived by father Fred Stockwell, of Putney, Vermont and partner Julie Bronson, daughter Kaileigh Fitch, her partner Tim Hutton, and Connie’s grandchild-to-be of Putney, Vermont, daughter Nenah Fitch and partner Zachary Smith, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and son Alexander Fitch and partner Mikayla Ching, of Putney Vermont, as well as her children’s father, Stephen Fitch of Alstead, New Hampshire. Connie will also be remembered by her sister and brother-in-law Leanne and Matthew Hettinger of Langdon, New Hampshire, her nephew and niece Christopher and Christina Wasserlein and their children Michael and Andrew, as well as her brothers Michael and Fred Stockwell of Putney, Vermont, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends. Connie is predeceased by her mother Janice Stockwell of Putney, Vermont.

A graduate of Brattleboro Union High School in 1984, Connie spent her life as a full-time business-owner and in-home childcare provider. She dedicated her life to caring for children, neighbors, and her own family. Connie’s life can be marked as one abundant in generosity, kindness, and service to the childcare community. In her free time, Connie was an avid scrapbooker, photographer, nature-lover, and hiker, but nothing matched the love she had for children. Connie’s career as a daycare and preschool provider allowed her to touch the lives of many throughout the years, an impact that will be felt for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to Winston Prouty in Connie’s name, as a tribute to her everlasting passion and dedication to the childcare community.

Growing up I used to play with LeAnne and Connie. I have fond memories of playing Barbies outside. Or playing in the trailer in the woods which was our "club house." I also remember Fred had a tractor we could drive around the yard and Connie drove it better than I did and I think she was, like, 6 years old! In later years my dad, Everett, became very dependent on daily routines. Going to visit "Connie and the kids" for his morning coffee was a BIG part of his day. She often sent meals to him (and me when I was visiting). Dad always worried she might run out of wood (she wouldn't, she was well stocked) but he would often give her a few cords of wood "he had laying around." I think it was his way of saying "Thank you."

She was a one of a kind person and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. RIP my childhood friend.

Jason and I will forever be grateful for all of the love and care Connie gave to our children. She was like a second mom to them. I never felt like I was dropping my children off to child care, it always felt like an extension to our family. She took the most beautiful pictures to capture memories for us throughout the day and when Mallory and Adam became older they would spend time there just as neighbors and friends. Mallory told me recently that when all of the other children were asleep, Connie would ask Mallory to come upstairs and they would hang at the table doing projects together or just talking as Connie took her break. Alex and Adam always found mischief together but always had just an amazing time together and Connie and I would laugh together after the talking happened with the boys. You will be forever missed Connie. ❤️ We still use the phase “skip-it’s” when asking what’s for dinner 😊 My hope Connie, it that you are now finally out of pain and are able to be doing all that you loved. Thank you for all that you did for our family. ❤️

My condolences to family and friends to lose a beautiful caring person. During this troubling pandemic, it is hard to properly mourn. I hope that you can draw comfort of the hope that we are promised found in Revelation 21:3,4. There will be a better time where we won't deal with sickness and death. And we can live peacefully and safe with our loved ones.
